Attributed to Cornelius and Company, one of the premier American lighting manufacturers, these impressive seven-light candelabra were likely specially commissioned pieces because of the use of figures and double-stepped marble bases. The candle cups, drip pans, and candle arms are seen on Cornelius and Company girandoles. The female figure holding the candelabrum is also used on astral lamps and sometimes as a sinumbra base. The pair retains its original two-tone gilt-lacquered finish.
