Offered in a beautiful patinated and gilt finish, these argands feature a font in the shape of a Greek amphora with two-tone gilt handles. Foliate scrolls decorate the feeder tubes and bold paw feet support the lamps on four-sided concave plinths. Tags on the burner tubes read B. GARDINER/N. YORK for the well-known New York City retailer Baldwin Gardiner. An identical pair of lamps appoint the mantle in the recreation of a Greek Revival parlor in the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
