Reference: A similar Bergen County, New Jersey kas appears in American Kasten, The Dutch-Style Cupboards of New York and New Jersey, 1650-1800 by Peter Kenny, F. Grubber Safford and G. Vincent, page 26, illus. 26 dating to 1790-1810, which exhibits neo-classical ornamentation of inlaid paterae and other carved and molded designs typical of Federal architecture and decoration in Bergen County. Kenny further illustrates on page 67, illus. 43 a Roelof Demarest New Jersey kas with compass inlays on the doors and suggests that more one workshop was consistently producing kasten with similar Federal ornamentation.
