8.4 x 13.1 Antique Bidjar Carpet, Harshang Design, Northwest Persia, Circa 1890
The Harshang design is one of the most famous formats favored by Bidjar weavers in the 19th century. In this example, an all-over version of the design is used to decorated the abrashed navy blue field, with large scale palmettes and flowerheads in shades of green, yellow, sky blue, mahogany and red complemented by ancillary floral forms in ivory, coral, yellow, green and camel shades.
A brick red “Turtle” design border frames the field.
Very good condition with minor restoration and minor "touch-up"
