4.9 x 7.9 Antique Kurdish Rug, Northwest Persia, Circa 1890
Horizontal bands of color with latch hook motifs decorate the field of this antique Kurdish rug from northwest Persia. Antique northwest Persian Kurdish rugs with similar designs are comparatively rare and they are sometimes attributed to the Jaf tribe, while other times attributed to the Sanjabi tribe. The denim blue field in this example is stunning and is complemented by a remarkable array of ancillary colors including yellow, light green, deep green, aubergine, madder red, apricot, brown and ivory.
Very good general condition with minor reweaving, repiling and reinforced areas.
