3.8 x 8.11 Antique Kurdish Rug, Northwest Persia, Circa 1890
A delightful antique Kurdish long rug from northwest Persia. The camel color field is decorated with a series of medallions with stylized flowers. Half medallions with a checker board motif appear on each side of the field. Diagonal stripe guard borders, a style often seen in weavings by the Luri tribe, and a camel major border with flowerheads frame the field.
The colors in this rug are subtle but very beautiful, with yellow, sky blue, aubergine, terra cotta, brick red, ivory, brown and navy blue.
