Two wonderful early 20th c. impressionist works by an excellent Pennsylvania woman artist. Born in Philadelphia, Katharine Maxey Patton studied at the Art Students League with Kenyon Cox, Charles Hawthorne, and Henry Snell, at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, in London with Frank Brangwyn, and with William Merritt Chase. She exhibited for many years at the PAFA annuals, winning a medal in 1913 and the Mary Russell Smith prize in 1921. She also exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Corcoran, and many more.
