Influenced by Impressionism, Clime was known for his rural landscape and genre paintings. Clime was the co-founder of The Washington D.C. Society of Landscape Painters in 1913. Although known as an Old Lyme School artist, he also painted in Cragsmoor, New York, in the picturesque Hudson River Valley. The Medallion Jug is a rare subject matter yet embodies Clime's talent and success as an American Impressionist artist.
