An antique Senneh rug from northwest Persia's Kurdistan province. The abrashed (variegated) denim blue field contains an ivory medallion that is decorated with the classical Herati design. Salmon color, Herati design corners and a mid blue Turtle design border frame the field.
We just acquired this rug from a private Massachusetts family collection. It had been featured on the cover of an issue of Renovation Style magazine about 15 years ago, displayed in the front foyer of the home. This rug had been in the collection of Amherst College and retains the Amherst College label on the back of the rug.
It was just cleaned and minor repiliing and touch-up done and the edges wrapped.
