A China trade fan with three port views. From left to right is-- Macao, Canton, and Hong Kong. Gouache on paper with mother of pearl carved guard sticks. The three panels are surrounded by brightly colored Chinese symbols and decorations with mauve border. The reverse has mandarin scene referred to as “thousand faces”.
Some wear and tear.
This fan has the same high quality as the 1855 fan in the Peabody Essex Museum.
