Northern Plains Indian double-sided bead decorated knife sheath, Cheyenne or Sioux with a bone handled trade blade knife. Circa 1870's. Exceptional color palette with repeating hour glass design motifs that have been described in scholarly literature on American Indian art as a representation of "thunderbirds flying or flapping their wings." Excellent condition with minor bead loss, cracks and minor losses on bone handle of trade knife.
