Large Coco de Mer

First rate example with a nice "thigh gap." Interior nut still intact (not hollowed out).

The coco de mer is the largest seed in the world and only grown in the Seychelles Islands.

Sailors would find these floating in the ocean and had no idea where they originated from. They were carved and collected for their “femaleness.”

Provenance: Private American collection since 1952 (brought home by a Marine abroad).

On a custom steel base.

Condition: Excellent.
