This beautiful dressing table reflects the best cabinetmaking of the Classical period in Baltimore. The use of striking mahogany veneers complements the bold architectural features of the elegant pediment and the bold column supports of the base. While the segmented blocking in the drawers reminds one of a signature detail of John Needles, the faceted drawer fronts, veneered columns, and lobe-carved feet are virtually identical to details on a writing table and bookcase attributed to Anthony H. Jenkins in a private collection.
