These beautiful chairs are usually attributed to Philadelphia's finest cabinetmakers of the Federal period, Ephraim Haines and Henry Connelly. See Montgomery "American Furniture, The Federal Period" page 142 for an identical example in the Winterthur collection. The carving is the best as is the overall design of each chair. Note these unique features: conical spade feet, turned back legs and uniquely made vertical back ribs (turned and split in half vertically). The chairs are in near mint original structural condition, even retaining their original glue blocks, in addition to being beautifully upholstered in a red horsehair fabric. They are nicely polished but retain desirable color. They are ready to go into your home and be enjoyed.
We are offering them individually at $4950 with a discount for purchase of either 2 or all 3.
