An impressive chair distinguished by great styling and the finest carving. Note the extremely rare feature of out-curved front legs which is found only on a few New York City chairs of this period. The modeled arms and out curved legs are also found on an armchair at Winterthur and shown on page 115 of Montgomery's "American Furniture, The Federal Period."
In overall very good condition with a few old repairs and some minor imperfections. It retains its original front glue blocks.
