Important Jade Green 18th Century Redware Tea Cup

Description

This wonderful little bowl was pictured and discussed in a January 1931 Charles Cook article in the Magazine Antiques.  It is described as having a long history of ownership in East Greenwich, RI and attributed to the Upton Pottery.  The piece was later owned by Lewis Scranton and pictured in Brian Cullity's "Slipped and Glazed."  In his discussion of the piece, Mr. Cullity posits that the piece may also have been made in Bristol County, MA.  Winterthur owns a nearly identical bowl.
