Presented to noted poet and activist Sarah T. Bolton for her ode on the laying of the corner stone of a Masonic Hall in Indianapolis. Documented in period Masonic records as being ordered from New York City, despite this mark being unattributed. Bolton was called Indiana's "pioneer poet" and was an early activist for women's rights. Dated 1848 and standing 6 3/4" tall. A book on Bolton accompanied by many of her works is included.
