A rare and probably unique example of utilitarian Shaker design in an absolutely undisturbed condition being offered for the first time. Having a dovetailed case desk with a slant lid having applied moldings and shaped back splash supported by a mortise and tenon frame with a shaped cut-out (for the legs of the user), fitted with a dovetailed drawer (with tapered drawer sides), and standing on four square to round tapered legs. There is also a drop leaf attached to the rear of the desk portion supported by a hand wrought iron swing-out brace. Butternut, cherry and pine in the same fine condition it left the Shaker Community of Enfield, CT early in the 20th Century.
