New England, probably Coastal Massachusetts, ca. 1760-1775.
Mahogany, white pine secondary wood.
Condition: Fine condition, retaining the original cast brass pulls, very minor shrinkage cracks to feet, otherwise in excellent condition.
This classic Blocked-Front Chest has a blocked-front molded edge top slightly overhanging the case with four graduated blocked front drawers supported by conforming bracket feet with a carved central drop pendent. The chest retains an early Wendell family label on the backboards. This compact example is also desirable for its diminutive size.
