The center eagle transfer alone would make this a desirable plate, but the previously unknown border decoration elevates to a much more collectible category. When rarity is complemented with striking beauty one has the best! And unlike the earthenware (creamware, pearlware, etc) pieces that we commonly encounter, this plate is porcelain, which further enhances its value. Made by an as yet unidentified maker in Staffordshire, England, for export to America circa 1820's, it is marked on the underside. In excellent original condition with slight wear to the gilt.
