Charles Rohlfs blanket chest. Produced from Chestnut and still retains it original surface and color. Note the deep green of the interior. The hardware is hammered copper. This is signed with his mark of a joiners saw and dated 1901.
This chest was highlighted in an article that appeared in Magazine Antiques (May/June 2013) that suggests this chest was exhibited at the Louisiana Purchase Exhibition in St. Louis, MO in 1904. Rohlfs worked for a short 10 years beginning this chapter in his life in 1897.
