This Zuni pottery jar with tadpole, frog and dragonfly images continues the tradition of pottery at Zuni in the 19th century. With a strong attribution to Catalina Zunie because of the specific style, it is considered one of the best examples of her work. This jar is in excellent condition, with minor wear on the rim.
Catalina Zunie was a very important potter at Zuni Pueblo, teaching pottery-making to Zuni children at a time when the skill was dying out. She is recognized as having been a master potter during 1920-1930s.
